Cornerstone content is the small set of pages a site most wants to rank \u2014 usually comprehensive guides on its central subjects rather than news items or updates.<\/p>

The designation is not a badge; it is an instruction about links. Cornerstone pages should receive many internal links and send comparatively few<\/strong>, so that authority collects there rather than dispersing.<\/p><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Five to fifteen on most sites. The number matters because the designation only means something by contrast \u2014 if everything is cornerstone, nothing is, and the links spread evenly again.<\/p>

The test is not length or effort. It is: would this page still be worth reading in two years, and does it target a term you actually want?<\/strong> A 4,000-word post about a product update fails both. A 1,200-word guide to a durable question passes.<\/p>

Commercial pages qualify too. A pricing page or a category page can be cornerstone; the concept is about which pages should collect authority, not about which are editorial.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Every page that touches the subject should \u0631\u0627\u0628\u0637<\/a> to the relevant cornerstone page. That is the whole mechanism, and it is where most sites fall short \u2014 not because the rule is hard, but because it applies retroactively to an archive nobody reopens.<\/p>

Two refinements matter. Vary the \u0646\u0635 \u0631\u0627\u0628\u0637<\/a>: forty identical phrases pointing at one page read as a pattern, not as forty editorial decisions. And keep the cornerstone page’s own outbound links purposeful \u2014 it should point at its cluster pages, not at everything.<\/p>

Largely the same thing under different vocabulary. Cornerstone<\/em> comes from Yoast and describes importance. Pillar page<\/em> comes from the topic cluster<\/a> model and describes a position in a structure. Hub<\/em> usually emphasises the linking-out function.<\/p>

A cornerstone page is a commitment, not a publication. It carries the internal links of everything around it, so letting it go stale devalues the whole group.<\/p>

A workable rhythm: review each one twice a year. Check that the examples still hold, that the advice has not been overtaken, and that new cluster pages published since the last review are linked from it. That last point is the one that slips \u2014 a pillar written eighteen months ago typically links to half the pages that now belong to it.<\/p>

Updating in place is almost always better than publishing a successor. A new URL starts from zero; the old one carries every link it accumulated.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Designations accumulate. Most sites that use the concept end up with thirty cornerstone pages and no concentration at all, which is the same as having none.<\/p>

Three signals that a page should be demoted: the subject is no longer central to the business; a newer page covers it better and the two are competing; or nobody has linked to it from new content in a year, which usually means writers no longer see it as the reference.<\/p>

The intermediate metric is inbound internal links, and it moves within days rather than months. Search Console’s internal links report ranks every URL by how many it receives; your cornerstone pages should be at the top of that list, below only the homepage.<\/p>

If they are not, the linking has not happened yet, whatever the content plan says.
